Lights of Love Event

Lights of Love is a very special annual event, and provides a way for people to come together to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones who are sadly no longer with us.

We will send you a Lights of Love pack in the post, which includes a dedication slip, and a bauble, both of which you can personalise in dedication to your loved one.

The Lights of Love event itself includes a 45 minute ceremony, with poems, readings, and group singing (optional!). After the ceremony, you are warmly invited inside the Hospice Day Centre for refreshments, and to see your ‘light of love’.

The Event

The event will take place opposite the main entrance of the hospice and we will be outside so please do wrap up warm.

Please arrive from 3pm to allow time for drinks and the collecting of programmes. There will also be the opportunity to purchase tea lights and lights of love badges. The tea lights will form part of the ceremony itself.

The ceremony will start at 4pm and contains carols, readings and music. It also includes the switching on of the tree lights, which will remain lit until twelfth night.

After the ceremony, you are warmly invited to come into the hospice and add your Lights of Love bauble to our remembrance bunting as well as to enjoy refreshments, purchase Christmas cards and have a look at the dedications in the Books of Remembrance.

The event will draw to a close at 6pm.

Add a digital Light of Love

You’re also invited to add a message of dedication for your loved one to our digital Lights of Love Tree. You can add your dedication and view the messages here:
