We do not have strict visiting times but we encourage people to visit between 11am and 8pm to allow us to tend to patients’ needs in the morning and evening. We have limited facilities for close relatives or friends to stay overnight and if you would like to stay, please speak to a member of staff.
Children of all ages are very welcome to visit and we have a dedicated play area for smaller children in the ward lounge.
Where it is anticipated that families with children are likely to suffer a bereavement we can put them in touch with See Saw, the children's bereavement organisation.
Our ward lounge is a place where visitors can rest, watch TV, meet others or take a break. Tea and coffee making facilities are available 24 hours. Our gardens are available for use by patients and visitors.
We also have a cafe in our Day Centre where families and visitors are welcome to go for a change of scenery, light refreshments and to read the daily papers.
The Sobell House reception closes at 5pm and the main entrance doors are locked for your security. All visitors should use the ‘out of hours’ entrance between 5pm and 9am. The entrance is located in the inpatient unit to the side of the building. Please ask a member of staff, in advance, to show you where the out of hours entrance is.
