Sobell House welcomes everyone, regardless of their beliefs or faith, and encourages people to express their spirituality or practice their religion in their own way.

Spiritual Support

We offer our services and resources to everyone who is referred to us whatever their belief, and spiritual and religious care is available to all. We recognise that it means different things to different people we believe your spiritual wellbeing is just as important as your physical wellness.

At Sobell House we have a chapel that is a quiet space for meditation and prayer open 24 hours a day and services are held in the chapel on a regular basis.  If you are an inpatient you are also able to have Holy Communion at your bedside.

Patients and families can always speak to a member of staff on the ward who can contact our chaplain who is available 24 hours a day and can liaise with representatives of different faith communities for you.

We work with the Bereavement Service (link to Bereavement support grandchild page) to hold memorial events several times a year.  These are open to all family members and friends and offer a time of reflection to remember those who have died.  The ‘Lights of Love’ service is held each December at The Churchill Hospital and names and special messages for loved ones who have died are tied to the branches of the Christmas tree and accompanied by carols.

Our Chaplaincy is open 9am to 5pm on weekdays on 01865 225 779 or 01865 885 860, but our Chaplain is available 24 hours.

‘Lights of Love’ events run by our Charity – 01865 857 007
