Involve your staff in raising funds to help grow Sobell House to ensure care is available to them and their loved ones. Your efforts as a business in Oxfordshire will secure the provision of high quality palliative care for the people of Oxfordshire and bequeath it to your and your staff’s children and grand-children.

 Why we need your help

With one in three of us likely to need or benefit from end of life care, Sobell House has a vision for Oxfordshire where everyone has access to the care they need and where families are supported.

We have therefore set ourselves a target to raise extra funds over the next 4 years to support the expansion of our services in line with the demand.  We will achieve this by working closely with local businesses, local groups, individuals and families.

The first priority is to grow end of life care expertise across Oxfordshire’s four hospitals.  Central to this initiative to improve care of the dying will be education and training for hospital staff – strengthening and growing the pool of knowledge in end of life care across the Oxfordshire hospitals.

We will also build a new hospice space on the Churchill hospital site which will give us added clinical facilities. This will be designed to fit the needs of our increasingly frail and complex patients who are likely to be prone to falls and may suffer from dementia. It will also provide the capacity for other essential out-patient services such as lymphoedema and provide much needed comfort in a sympathetic environment.

£1,000 – will enable several families to receive emotional support from a social worker because when someone is very ill many people may be affected, including children.

£2,000 – will enable us to buy new equipment for our physiotherapy team and help more people like regain their strength and live well.

£3,000 – could pay for 75 complementary therapy sessions

£5,000 – will help to ensure our home-based patients are able to come and socialise in our Day Centre and take part in physical and artistic activities to improve their wellbeing.

£10,000 - is what it costs Sobell House each day to provide the full range of services suited to the individual needs of our patients across Oxfordshire, wherever they are.
